Automated Planning and Management of Local Energy Communities (L2-70166)

(Mar 2026 – Feb 2029)

The aim of the research is to develop a methodology and a prototype software tool to support the planning and operation of local energy communities. The methodology will be based on a digital twin, i.e. a mathematical model of a local energy community. The model will incorporate both technical and economic aspects, including physical variables such as energy flows, storage system states, energy conversion losses, and system degradation, as well as economic variables describing financial transactions between community members.

INEA will enhance its inGenious platform with new functionalities for the design and management of energy communities, integrating algorithms developed by the Jožef Stefan Institute.
