Research Project RECOTRANS

Horizon 2020: RECOTRANS – “Integrated manufacturing of REcyclable multi-material COmposites for the TRANSport sector”

(Oct 2017 – Sep 2021)

In October 2017 Inea started working on international research and development project RECOTRANS within Horizon 2020. RECOTRANS partnership is composed by 13 organizations from 7 EU countries.

RECOTRANS project will integrate unconventional manufacturing technologies such as (microwave) MW radiation and laser joining in current RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) and pultrusion production lines to be able to obtain cost-effective recyclable multi-material composites suitable for the transport sector at high production rates. RECOTRANS solution aims to reduce cost, production time and energy consumption compared to current composites materials production.

An intelligent process monitoring system will be integrated in the production lines for the efficient quality and process control of the innovative processes.
