Research Project MIRABEL

FP7: Micro-Request-Based Aggregation, Forecasting and Scheduling of Energy Demand, Supply and Distribution

(Jan 2010 – Apr 2013)

The Mirabel project, co-funded under the 7th Framework Programme, offers solutions for more efficient integration of renewable sources and peak demand reduction through demand response and distributed generation. Its uniqueness lies in an economic approach where consumers, for the portion of demand they relinquish to automated control, negotiate closed contracts for electricity supply within the energy trading system as part of a balancing group. This method allows responsible balancing groups to treat managed demand similarly to producers or as used in an organized market. Aggregation algorithms, production and consumption forecasting, and electricity flow scheduling enable the integration of a multitude of end consumers, both industrial and residential, into demand response programs.

The Mirabel project was awarded the Best Poster-Paper Award at the World Smart Grids Forum in Berlin in 2013.
